Valentine Kids Craft: A Paper Bag Mailbox!

Valentine Kids Craft Mailbox

Valentine craft creating is under way in my classroom and our home!  The children are making lists of who they’re making Valentines cards for (every single classmate, of course!) and bulletin boards are laden with pink and red heart-shaped Valentine crafts for kids. Although it’s not quite time to make those special one-of-a-kind cards yet, we are preparing by making Valentine paper bag craft mailboxes to collect all those soon-to-arrive Valentine cards!

Every child will have one on his or her desk when the big day comes around, to collect all of his or her treasured Valentines. This is a simple paper bag craft that can be made in all kinds of ways to suit the individual child.

My son Alex’s favorite animal is currently the penguin, so I helped him make a penguin Valentine mailbox.

He chose a black paper bag for his Valentine craft for kids. Make a different color paper bag craft for each animal you wish to make. We cut off the top half of the paper bag to make it shorter. This is the Valentine mailbox itself. Now use scraps from the paper bag to make a face, adding on pieces of colored paper or other additions such as wiggle eyes. Use some more scraps to make the arms. Then use a piece of pink or red paper to make a big heart. Children can write their names on the heart or decorate with glitter if they like.

Now simply assemble the animal with glue or tape to make your Valentine mailbox. This paper bag craft is makes the perfect Valentine kids craft, as it’s delightfully fun and versatile!
